Career:
First I worked as a truck driver. Then I had an opportunity to go to work with the Argus Camera Company as a lens polisher. I turned out to be a fair lens polisher..not a great one. Other fellows were better than I was but I did a very good job. Then I went into the service. I got out later and, remembering the great depression (I did not want to get caught in that), I always remembered that the government workers, especially the postal workers, always had a job. So I took the civil service test, passed it with flying colors, and went into the postal service. In between I did some construction work, did everything possible: washing windows. The postal service was low pay so I decided I'd also work as a door to door salesman selling vacuum cleaners. Didn't make great money at it. I was too honest. But I did a heck of a lot of good will for the company. I was also playing music on the side and eventually retired from the postal service but kept up the music and I've been playing ever since.
