My Parent's Business

My parents opened an art gallery after a whole lot of work. There are a lot of mandatory steps that you must accomplish before actually opening. You first must find the perfect space to open your business. My parents waited about 7-8 months before the found the space for them. It was a really dingy at first and so they had to do some major renovating. The lighting in the previous shop had been very dim (something that is not good for an art gallery) so they replaced the old lighting with track lighting. The art that they showcase is very colorful so they chose to paint the floor and walls white so as not to compete with the art. Painting the floor white was a good idea and it looks great but when it is rainy and muddy outside I end up thinking that the idea wasn't so hot after all. After the gallery is all set with the art hanging, you find the perfect date to open up. My mom decided that opening during the art fair was a great idea and it was. We had a steady flow of customers coming through and it was really exciting.

My parents are artist's themselves and got sick of setting up for art fairs and then having to tear down the next day. They still do art fairs, but having a gallery (which mostly showcases their work) is kind of like a permanent art fair for them in which they only have to lock the doors at the end of the night.
