Milestones: The highlights of my life are my four children. (Now they are 36,35, 34 and 32 years old.) I got married right out of high school and I got into a bad situation..and I thought I had to stay. It took me a long time to know I could get out. And when I did get out I was in a bad way. I had four children and I didn't have any money or credit or earning power or borrowing power or work experience..but I did it! I worked sometimes three jobs and I taught my kids that there are lots of scholarships and loans out there and they all went to college and did well. I went back to college, met my (current) husband and graduated!

Goals as a teen: The only options I considered as a teen, my only goal, was to get married and have babies. We did not think beyond the two options: either get married and have a lot of babies or become a nun. I didn't consider much else, sorry to say.

Interests as a teen: I was always interested in art. It has always been with me..it has been my friend. I always liked to doodle and when I was little, the nuns noticed this and they had me do the bulletin boards and I would draw big murals on the blackboards for the holidays. I went to an all girl high school and all of our art had to be religiously oriented and we rebelled. And way back before green hair and tattoos and things, I was painting pictures on people's faces. Then when I started working..I was a soda jerk if you know what that was..and I would do all the signs and whitewash the windows and lots of things like that. When I got into high school, I majored in Art. All my life I considered my art to be my friend. After I got married I continued to take Art classes but it took me 25 years to get an associates degree because of my family situation. But art was always my escape

Finding her career: I started out (at work) as a secretary because I had taken typing in high school. But then I started looking around in this company after I got there and I saw their publications department and there were artists there. They needed a typesetter and I got that job and that was fun because I learned that type could be an art form. This grew into what I do now. They had no position like this before. When I began there I knew they had to make things more readable and better looking and I kept whining about it and they finally decided to do something about it and they made this job for me.
