Core

Unique qualities: My unique qualities involve the use of my mind. I have trained myself to think in terms of end results so I picture the end before I start any activity. This keeps my creative juices flowing and directed.

Changing job description: The way I would like to change my job description is to eliminate my duties of building homes so I can concentrate on developing my other career.

Success: Each and every one of us must decide what success means to us. Unless you've made that decision, you will never consider yourself successful. Yes, I humbly consider myself a successful man because I dreamed my future and now I am living my dreams.

Happiness: I am happy. Happiness is a state of mind in which you are not unhappy. Happiness is relative. If you know what you want and continuously work toward the attainment of that desire, overcoming obstacles as they present themselves, you will remain happy. I am happy about my accomplishments so far, but I am not dwelling on that, only on where I am headed.

Hard times: There were several very painful times in my life: a bankruptcy and a divorce. I set out to make a million dollars in five years and made it in four. I was on top of the world but because of unanticipated change, I lost all of my tangible assets. Starting over is very painful but it is through that pain that you grow. Immediately I began to rebuild. It can be done. Tearing a family apart is one of the most destructive things people do to each other. As my marriage was growing apart, nothing else made any sense. I became unfocused and scattered in my thoughts. I needed direction. I found it in my faith, in my God and in myself. I kept reading and journaling and picking up the pieces, constantly striving to put order back into my life.

Lessons learned from life experience:

The best lessons are still the hardest learned. Keeping a pleasing attitude toward people is the quickest way to get what you want and the hardest thing to do. Every time I experienced obstacles or set backs, it was due to my not having a positive attitude. Keep positive and you can get there quicker.

You accomplish things, not because people will let you, but because no one can stop you. Persistence is all you need. If you have that burning desire, you can move mountains.

We are all supremely intelligent beings. We all possess a mind that when used properly, can gain for us all that we desire. The problem is that most people don't use it. Only you know what you want. As you ask yourself a question, you are asking the most intelligent being you could ask: yourself!

There is nothing wrong in looking back, just don't stare. You can only change the present, not the past or the future. You do things according to where you are at the present time and under the present circumstances. If you make a mistake, that doesn't mean you are a mistake. Learn from it and move on. When you learn from your past, you direct your future. That's what counts.

Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off your goals! I only see opportunities to get what I want.

If you think you "can" or "can't", you're right! The more you expect and demand of life, the more you will achieve. It's as simple as that.

Most important thing now: Gaining knowledge is the most important thing I am doing in my life at this point. There is an old saying, "The more you know, the more you know what you don't know." Learning is a lifelong process.

Living well: When you are "living well" you are living up to your expectations. Accomplishing goals is very satisfying and when I am satisfied, I'm happy and when I'm happy, I'm living the "good life".

Life is short... and as sweet as you want to make it!"

New skills: The skills that I am now developing involve increasing my ability to concentrate or focus on the things I want most from life so that I can find the shortest distance from where I am, to where I wan to go.

Writing is another way of expressing one's creativity. I love to create through words. As a teenager I expressed myself through sports: football, music (sax, guitar and vocals) and art (painting and sculpture). I feel all these skills have been preparing me for what and who I am today! At 52 years young I am a builder/author and developing a professional speaking career.

Next year: Next year is the year 2000 and I am gearing up for the most productive year of my life. I want to do less building of homes and more building of success in others. I will be spending more of my time interviewing people and writing books and speaking professionally and traveling with my wife. We plan to build our last home in this area on a hilly and wooded lot that I have set aside for that purpose. Next year I will be the president of a builders association and am planning on doing my next Showcase of Homes in the year 2001. I am working on producing a video using virtual reality technologies. I have developed a mastermind alliance in order to pull together and assimilate all current information on VR to create this video. We have given ourselves two years to accomplish that goal.
