Foundation Work

The foundation is the one of the most expensive parts of the home and obviously the first part to be constructed. The footings are dug ten inches deep underneath the wall of the foundation. We then fill the whole bottom with pea stone and then the concrete will be poured on top of the pea stone (once the house is all constructed we pour the concrete.) Then we are ready to build on top of the foundation. Two forty six foot long steel beams will go in and by the end of today all the lumber will be in place.

We have a high water table on this property (you can see the creek over there) so I have to keep that sump pump working. If I don't, this basement will fill up with three feet of water. I have installed a temporary electric box just to keep that sump pump going. It is expensive but necessary.
