KEY STRENGTHS ASSESSMENT

TEACHING AND TRAINING

Taught academics and technology-arts (Web programming/design, digital imaging, game design and video production) in classroom and vocational settings to students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.

Designed IT training curricula and led group training seminars for hundreds of case managers employed at any of the 50+ human service agencies across the eight county-wide catchment area of Florida’s Big Bend region.

Led self-designed, career-exploration programs for the residents of Big Bend Homeless Coalition’s HOPE Community Family Emergency Shelter.

Designed and delivered academic and arts curricula for at-risk students to facilitate their ongoing success. My curricula employ a project-based, cross-disciplinary approach, integrating the arts into traditional subject areas. My strength is involving students in high-profile projects that support the community and highlight the school.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

Designed and implemented an adult education course at Wakulla Correctional Institution’s Work Camp. I wrote the curriculum and provided Literacy, ABE and GED-level instruction and reentry training to the enrolled inmates, led individualized work plans, small group and whole-class sessions and recruited outside volunteer tutors for one-on-one remedial instruction.

Founded and directed an educational media, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that partnered with public and private foundations to develop educational media products. Under my direction we completed a highly successful, 2-year project for Blue Cross Blue Shield: This program used a near-peer mentoring approach that linked middle with high school students to counter social pressures to smoke ( https://goo.gl/8JjbHm).

Designed award-winning technology-arts programs for Detroit Public Schools, Brighton Area Schools, and Milan Federal Correction Institution’s education department. Built these programs from the ground up: Obtained grant funding, designed studios, wrote the curricula, purchased equipment, and taught the courses.

Designed and implemented an online career mentoring program for at-risk youth in the Ann Arbor public school system. I built and managed the web portal’s front and back ends and recruited and trained mentors.

Designed, directed, and managed an online, technology training program for the Washtenaw Intermediate School District in southeastern MI, creating all the program’s interactive applications and web tutorials.

Key Projects:
In May 2004, I completed work on a smoking prevention program, that I designed, directed and implemented for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. This year long project resulted in a 3D, CD ROM game (I did all programming, 3D modeling, graphics, writing, audio, video and animation.), a Web site and a health class curriculum. I designed and developed all three of these components, managed the project's production and budget, led focus groups, taught technology classes for student developers and near-peer mentors and wrote the distribution and evaluation plan (as well as authored the grants that funded the program and the pilot). The CD ROM game, Web site and curriculum were distributed to all public and private middle schools in southeastern Michigan.

Prior to the CD ROM project, I designed and managed an online career mentoring program used by high schools in southeastern Michigan, instructed the high school Web team that developed content for the database and wrote the search engine, secure email correspondence and all other CGI scripts for the Web site.

From 1999 to 2000 I designed and managed an online technology training program for the Washtenaw Intermediate School District in southeast Michigan. I was responsible for front and back-end development and wrote the grants that secured the funding.
