The curriculum, available
from this web site, helps middle school staff involve students in
discussions, activities related to the CD ROM game. This program
is designed to cover three class periods but students will benefit
from involvement over a shorter period of time. Staff should feel
free to pick and choose discussion topics and activities that best
fit their students and school schedule. (See other
ways to use the game.)
To use the three class period structure follow
that link below. To browse all the discussions and activities, independent
of the three class period structure, follow the pick and choose
link below. In either case, we ask that you require each participating
student to complete a pre and post survey
so that we are able to determine how effective the program is and
make improvements.
If your school supports interdisciplinary teaching
units you can involve the visual arts or language arts teachers
in this program. At this time the Market
a Poison activity is set up as an interdisciplinary project.
Soon other activities will have components designed for the language
and visual arts curricula. Content created by students in these
classes may be submitted to us for inclusion in our next version
of the CD ROM game. The student author, class and school will be
credited for each included work. Student authors will also receive
complementary copies of the CD ROM for their portfolios. Contact
us for more details.
We are anxious to hear how the program worked in
your school and we look forward to adapting the program design and
content of both the Web site and CD ROM game to better meet the
needs of your students and staff. To do this we need your feedback.
Please contact us with your comments,
recommendations or if you experience any difficulties with the game
or curriculum.
